YouTube: Brand New Logo and New Look for Mobile and Desktop
Google and Youtube are making some major design changes for both its mobile and desktop apps. Howver the biggest change of all it an all brand new logo for the online video service. The logo ditches the red color inside the “Tube” part of the name and places the new familiar play icon to the left side of the YouTube name. Google says that the change allows the YouTube logo to work better “across a variety of devices even on the tiniest screens”.
New Logo and Design
Along with the new logo, Google is also rolling out new design features that were previously available to a limited number of users for testing purposes. The desktop app will look different and include access to a dark theme or light theme, which should make videos pop out more.
YouTube’s video player will change shape and adapt to the aspect ration of the video being watched. So that means vertical videos with no pillarboxing!
Navigation tables have been moved to the bottom of the screen on mobile so they’re closer to users’ thumbs.
Additionally, YouTube is working on new gestures to its interface. The new feature that is currently an experiment will let you swipe to the next video or go back to the previous one.
Users can now speed up or slow down video playback as on desktop and while viewing a video in full-screen mode, there is a new feature that will display a row
